Detecting Suspicious Activity Training Program for
Jewish Community Organizations
Thursday, June 11, 2009
**TWO SESSIONS**
1:00 PM-2:00 PM (Eastern Time)
or
3:00 PM-4:00 PM (Eastern Time)
Presented by
Department of Homeland Security
Hosted by
Secure Community Network & United Jewish Communities
Overview
The recent domestic terrorist plot targeting synagogues in the Riverdale section of the Bronx is
yet another reminder that Jewish institutions in the United States continue to be the subject of
hostile surveillance and targets of attack. Case studies of terrorist attacks around the world have
shown that most attacks are preceded by days, weeks, months, and in some instances, years of
pre-operational surveillance by terrorists identifying and surveilling facilities and other targets for
attack.
The Secure Community Network, in cooperation with the Department of Homeland Security, will
be providing the organized Jewish community an opportunity to participate in a specially
designed instructional web based training seminar for learning how to better identify and report
hostile surveillance and suspicious activities at your institutions and agencies. This web-based
training program is being offered free of charge.
Who Should Attend
Security, Facility and Frontline Personnel from Synagogues, Day Schools, JCCs, Jewish
Federations and other Jewish community organizations are encouraged to attend
