YOUNG ISRAEL MOVEMENT TO PRESENT ANNUAL RABBINIC CONFERENCE

 

The Annual Rabbinic Conference presented by the National Council of Young Israel (NCYI) and the Young Israel Council of Rabbis will take place on President's Weekend, Sunday, February 14 and Monday, February 15, 2010 at the Utopia Jewish Center, which is located at 64-41 Utopia Parkway in Fresh Meadows, Queens, New York.  The conference is for Rabbis, Rebbetzins, Chaplains, Advanced Rabbinic Students and their wives (Sunday sessions are for men only).

 

The conference will begin on Sunday, February 14, at 2:00 PM with a pre-conference shiur entitled "Halachic and Practical Overview of Choshen Mishpat," which will be presented by Rabbi Yisroel Belsky, shlita, the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva Torah Vodaath in Brooklyn, New York, and the Rosh Av Beis Din at Kollel Avreichim.  The shiur will be followed by dinner and a Pre-Conference Round-Table Discussion, which will focus on a number of intriguing topics, including "The Rabbi and his Finances," "Enhancing Your Financial Ability & Stability," and "Preparing for the Unknown."

 

Monday, February 15, 2010 will feature a full compliment of informative lectures and dynamic shiurim presented by Machon L'Choshen Mishpat, beginning at 9:30 AM and concluding at 6:30 PM.  The theme of the conference will be "Business Halacha: What Rabbonim Need to Know."  Presentations will include "Yerusha & Halachic Wills," "Heter Iska - What it is & What it is not," "The Beis Din Process - What to expect," and a re-enactment video of a real Din Torah.

 

In addition, there will be a question and answer session with Rabbi Chaim Kohn, shlita, the Rosh Machon L'Choshen Mishpat, as well as a Special Women’s Track.
