NCYIJOBS: A Service to Match Employers with Potential Employees
How to Join

In response to numerous requests from its members to assist those who have been affected by the recent downturn in the global economy, the National Council of Young Israel (NCYI) has developed NCYIJOBS: a free, e-mail based employment bulletin board to assist those in the Jewish communities in the United States, Israel and around the world in seeking employees and employment.

"The goal of this service is to help as many people as possible find jobs/employees in this very difficult time" said Shlomo Z. Mostofsky, president of the National Council of Young Israel. "NCYIJOBS is a throwback to an earlier age in which Young Israel provided an employment bureau to all those seeking assistance", Mostofsky added. 'Today, we have members from coast to coast and north to south who are looking for jobs; and employers who may be looking for skilled employees."

Potential employees and employers can post their requirements by clicking here. Steve Kahn, creator of the bulletin board, and member of the Young Israel of Midwood, NY, serves as the site's moderator. "We believe that this service will open up the lines of communications between our members and others in the Jewish community looking for employment. It is an easy and discreet way to create a network of potential employees and employers in a time when many people need our help."

Employers are asked to include information about each position including job title, location, experience that the prospective employee is required to have and the firm's telephone number, fax number and/or e mail address (posting the company's name and the salary being offered are optional). All jobs posted must permit employees to fully observe Shabbat and all Jewish holidays.

Those seeking employment are asked to list the type of position they are seeking, their experience and qualifications, and a telephone number, fax number and/or e mail address. Name and salary requirements are optional.

"To get this project off the ground, we are asking the rabbinic and lay leadership of each Young Israel branch to publicize this service", Mr. Mostofsky said. "Whether announced from the pulpit, posted in the synagogue, or mentioned personally to individuals in need of employment, we are counting on our rabbis and lay leaders to get the message out."
