Yes, there are thousands of pigeons, but the area is incredible with loads to see...and we're fairly certain at least one kid will run straight at the birds sending them flying every which way...which we admit is kind of funny.
Gam Gam Restaurant- Feel free to take your delicious lunch to the outside tables and eat right by the canals as boats sail
Florence: Accademia- Yeah, you've probably seen Michelangelo's 'David' lots of times on TV or in the movies, but trust us, he's a heck of a lot more impressive when you see him in person.
Piazza Nacionale, Ponti Vecchio and Ruth Restaurant- The food here is great, but the place isn't big enough to handle a group of Achva's size, so we just eat next door at the one of, if not THE world's most beautiful shul: The Great Florence Synagogue
Leaning Tower of Pisa- Yes, you will fill a little off balanced as you climb to the top....and we dare you to not take a picture like this: it's ok, everyone does it when they visit Pisa :)
Introduction to Rome- Please don't make any "When in Rome..." jokes- it's just way too predictable and cliched.
You'll have a truly unique religious experience as you doven in a shul with Rome's Jewish Community, even meeting some local young adults.
Its design is a lot like Shea Stadiums, though it was built 2000 years ago. It’s pretty darn impressive if you ask us.
Yotvata Restaurant- Many past participants thought the food here was the best they've ever eaten, but you can decide for yourself though (we highly recommend the mozzarella rice balls).
Gan Eden Restaurant- By this point you'll probably be full, but we couldn't resist taking you to one last kosher restaurant in Italy.
City of David- Start your Israel experience right with a meaningful minyan at the Kotel.
Begin BaMidbar Experience (Majesty of the Desert)- Desert heat, hiking, sleeping bags, no bathrooms- just you and nature. The BaMidbar Experience will toughen you up, give you character, and enable you to bond with new friends in a whole new way.
Complete BaMidbar Experience- You may never appreciate another shower as much as the one you take today.
Machtesh Crater- You're in for some serious rappelling! How serious? Let's put it this way: if you decide to hike to the top of the crater, the ONLY way down is to rappel.
Eilat snorkeling, parasailing, Banana Boating- Guys, just make sure your bathing suite is on tight- you don't want to lose it while you’re parasailing.
Masada at Sunrise- Yes, we do get up incredibly early to climb Masada to see an amazing sunrise, but if you're really tired we can build you a bus hammock:
Yad Vashem- As the fast approaches you will get into the proper mindset as we tour through this most memorable and interactive museum.
Chesed Project- Working with Ethiopian Children- For many, the most touching and inspiring day of the trip. You will feel uplifted after spending time with the wonderful people at the Ethiopian center.
Group Shabbat in Jerusalem- Zmiros, Kotel Dovening and dancing, an uplifting oneg, and plenty of time to rest. The perfect Achva Shabbos.
Erev Tisha B'Av, Eicha- We go high into the hills and overlook Har Habayit, seeing first hand what we lost and why we're in mourning.
Tisha B'Av, Kinot, Second Temple Model, Kotel- We end the fast by the Kotel, and many participants find enough strength to sing and dance with hundreds of other Jews. An experience you'll never forget.
Jordan River Kayaking- If there are no rapids to get you wet, you can create your own!
An incredible water hike, a holy Kever, and a relaxing night at sea- the perfect Achva day.
Tzfat, Meeting with Mystic- See the sights of one of the holiest cities in Israel...a lot of participants love meeting this mystical dude!
Real men go to the mikvah!
Rechov Ben Yehuda, Meah Shearim, Shopping- Have some time to chill out, buy some souvenirs, or just get something to eat at one of Jerusalem’s cafés.
Banquet, Kumsitz- We go to the Kotel late at night, there you'll spend your last few hours on Achva reminiscing about all the incredible moments of the summer.
Kotel, Goodbyes! Flights to USA via New York- You may be excited to go home, but you'll also be sad that Achva's over...even some of the boys cry...but we won't embarrass them by putting up that picture.
